Design Concept Statement
Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel exemplifies the fusion between the modern and the traditional designs that make up the rich culture within the city.Harmony exists between the natural side of Hong Kong, including the ocean waters of the harbour, and the industrial, modern side that encapsulates the skyscrapers and buildings. This city is ever-evolving and saturated in culture as a result of its rich history. The design of the hotel was divided into public and private spaces with an emphasis on maintaining a clear circulation between these spaces. The first four floors of the building provide large amounts of public spaces including lounges, restaurants, and retail. Each floor becomes more private so that users are allowed more options while they spend time inside Harbour View. The twenty-six floors following are where the hotel rooms and suites are located. As the floors increase, so do the complexity of the rooms ranging from deluxe rooms to presidential suites. Located on the top-most floor are the executive club lounge, presidential suite and the most deluxe restaurant in the hotel.
Each hotel room was designed to emphasize the complexity of the city of Hong Kong while conveying a sense of luxury. Through the use of color, materials, and finishes, this hotel incorporates the key elements of the city and conveys that message to its guests. The Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel emphasizes all of the qualities of the city while pushing the boundary of space and design.
